Quartet Ulverstone Repertory Theatre Society Location: Leven Theatre, Ulverstone Map Quartet - Ulverstone Rep
The story takes place in a home for retired musicians and centres on four retired opera singers. Three old friends Cecily, Reg and Wilfred, were quite famous in the opera world once and now enjoy their retirement. They are also looking forward to celebrating Verdi's birthday, when they will perform together one more time. However, their peace is destroyed with the arrival of Jean, a lady they performed with years ago. The problem? The other three don't like her. Painful memories are brought to the surface as moments, memories and marriages of the past return.

"Quartet" is a beautiful and delightful play that is both funny and touching. It is full of wicked and saucy humour about growing old and about art. It is a play of hope and confidence for people in their retirement who fear they no longer have much to offer. It is a play that shows that a zest for life, the holding on to desire and friendship can keep you young at heart.

POSTPONED - No New Dates Yet! Nowra’s vibrant play is set inside a psychiatric institution in 1971. Lewis, a young director, takes on the task of mounting a production of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte in the burnt-out theatre. First produced in 1992, COSI has become one of the most successful Australian plays produced in the last two decades.

Of Mice And Men Three River Theatre Location: Earl Arts Centre, Launceston Map Of Mice and Men

John Steinbeck wrote his novella Of Mice and Men in 1937, immediately following it with his stage version, which quickly became a theatre classic. It won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Best Play in 1938, and has been performed continuously since, with the first (of many) film adaptations coming in 1939.

Set firmly in the Great Depression, Steinbeck’s tale of two landless itinerant workers explores the universality of human hopes and dreams. The play’s careful construction is like a Greek tragedy, and the issues it uncompromisingly raises, from economic disenfranchisement to disability to racism and sexism are as relevant today as they were when the play was written. The language and the action, both brutally of their time, can be confronting, but it remains a powerful and moving examination of the human condition not to be missed.

Launceston’s Three River Theatre has assembled a stellar cast to bring the show to life, including Cameron Hindrum, Travis Hennessy, Michael Edgar, Jonathan Pedler, Ryan Politis, Eleanore Knox, Matt Taylor, Leigh Oswin, Freddie Brown and Thanalert Ellen.

Directed by Stan Gottschalk.

Wyrd Sisters DoMaur Productions Location: Uniting Church Hall, Mount St. Burnie Map Wyrd Sisters
Adapted by Stephen Briggs from Sir Terry's best-selling book of the same name and part of the globally acclaimed Discword® series, Wyrd Sisters is a humorous takeoff of Macbeth and Hamlet.

Meet the three Witches on the blasted heath, and from there ...

It's all there! A wicked Duke and Duchess, the ghost of a murdered king, dim soldiers, strolling players, a lost heir and a kingdom in peril...

And who stands between the Kingdom and destruction? Three witches: Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick.

Wyrd Sisters is a comedy (radical for DoMaur I know!) and suitable for families (The odd spot of traditional innuendo will fly straight over the heads of the young'uns).

The critics are already raving:
"It's the best (and possibly only) play you'll see this season! A much needed laugh!"

Six men … with nothing to lose … who dare to go … The Full Monty!

Based on the smash hit film, The Full Monty (a ten-time Tony nominee) is musical comedy at its best.
